The latest draft compromise text of the Council of the EU on the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA) provides for a "national security" exception to the general ban on deploying spyware against journalists without guarantees for the protection of sources. Gong joined journalists and other civil society organisations in urging Council to reconsider its position.
