This weekend, Gong attended the founding meeting of ADMO in Dubrovnik.
Adria Digital Media Observatory (ADMO) is a newly established regional center for the fight against disinformation in digital media in Croatia and Slovenia. The European Commission has selected six new centers, including ADMO, to join the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO). EDMO will cover the entire territory of the European Union.
Through ADMO, the continuous production of fact-checks in Croatia and Slovenia is ensured and a whole series of analytical reports and publications will be written, dealing with: the content of disinformation, its sources, the origin of narratives, the role of international actors in the dissemination of disinformation, its acceptance and detection, the implementation of the Code of Practice on Disinformation in Croatia, and the financial sustainability of the Croatian and Slovenian media sectors. The project also provides training for journalists and journalism students, as well as various activities to promote media literacy among citizens in the region.
In addition to Gong and the project manager of the Department of Communication, University of Dubrovnik, the project partners are: Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing of University of Zagreb, Faculty of Philosophy of Zagreb University, University of Zagreb, Faculty of Political Science of Zagreb University, Adria News d.o.o. (N1 Television), Agence France Presse (AFP), Xwiki (France) and Oštro (Slovenia).
ADMO grew out of Gong's project "Pro-fact: Research, education, fact-check and debunk Covid-19 related disinformation narratives in Croatia", which used a multidisciplinary and multisectoral approach to understand disinformation related to COVID -19, its spread, and its impact on democracy and society.
